Paediatric Dentistry

What is paediatric dentistry?

A child’s oral and dental health lays the foundation for the dental structure they will have throughout their lives. Pedodontics, paediatric dentistry, aims to protect and treat children’s oral and dental health and to support its healthy development from infancy through to adolescence. At İrem Dental Clinic, we approach our young patients with patience, understanding, and methods tailored to their needs. Our friendly team uses specialised communication techniques and safe treatment environments so that children can receive care without developing a fear of the dentist.

Frequently asked questions, paediatric dentistry

When should a child first be taken to the dentist?

Children should visit the dentist when their first milk tooth appears, usually between 6 and 12 months of age.

Why are milk teeth important? They’re going to fall out anyway…

Milk teeth are extremely important for a child’s speech, nutrition, and for holding the space for permanent teeth. If lost early, crookedness and orthodontic problems can develop.

How can tooth decay in children be prevented?

Decay can be largely prevented through regular brushing, fluoride applications, fissure sealants, and routine dental check-ups.

My child is very frightened of the dentist, what can I do?

At İrem Dental Clinic, we use patient, reassuring communication techniques designed specifically for children. In addition, for children who find cooperation difficult, treatment can be carried out safely using sedation and general anaesthesia.
